Last weekend was MIGHTY!!! I’ll be posting bits and bobs from both the @melbourneitalianfesta on Sat with my phenomenal band #ninaferroandthegoldstandard and then Sunday at @memomusichall for my show #acenturyofwomeninsong
Phew…the weekend (and many months leading up) was exhilarating and utterly exhausting! I took a few days off this week to rest and recover and BOY did the ‘ol inner critic voice have a field day! That voice, that as an artist you’ve heard a million times from not only yourself but from others around you saying that I should have a real job, I’m lazy, why are you asleep on a Tuesday at midday! That sort of shit! It’s taking me years to quieten that voice down. What I find hard after a long lead up working towards a particular show / concert / performance is to stop afterward. To let the emails come in and not reply to them immediately. To give myself a weekend like everyone else gets. So that’s what I did and loved every second of it! 😍 I’ve learned to do it otherwise I am in constant burnout.
With that said…..here is some footage of my fabulous band!!! This is an original song off my album #intothelight which can be procured in all the obvious places. The song is called ‘Finish What You Started’, written by myself and a fab fella from Nashville named Johnny Duke @dukerr
I would LOVE to do more festivals and big stages I used to do a tonne of them before I moved to the UK (and while in the UK)….so I’m sending that out into the universe. Peace and love! 🙏🏼♥️

Over the last three years I’ve had the pleasure of periodically performing the role of #judygarland in a production called ‘Judy Australia 1964’. To prepare, I spent quite a bit of time analysing Judy’s physicality and especially her voice. So when Judy’s version of #igotrhythm was given to me to do for this year’s season of @dancingau I jumped at it and gave it my very best. This is my 5th year singing on @dancingau and it’s always such a treat. I love the challenge of recreating the vocals for the songs I’m entrusted with. To bring to life a vocal performance that is as close to original in sound whilst still remaining a little bit me! It takes time and skill and I’m always very proud of my work.
I’ve been in the UK and couldn’t access the Vids to be able to share them with you til now (I’m back baby!!!🥳).

I’ll post the full thing as soon as I can get it! I’ve loved this song since the first time I heard it. It became my blind audition song for @thevoiceau in 2016. I got through to the final 32 contestants. Was pretty happy with that outcome seeing as I was 42 at the time, only just back from 11 years of living in the UK, 3 months after my 3rd surgery in an 18 month span. I was not ok actually! Looking back, I realised that my experience of the voice was happening at one of the lowest points in my life! But I had that song. I had music. I’ve always had music. I got to sing it again for @dancingau and it reminded me of just how far I’ve come, both personally and professionally. I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. I’m feeling markedly different to the last time. At this moment I am in the UK / Europe and performing tonight at the @606 club in London. Full-ish circle. Had fun in #murano #venice making our own #murrina which is a glass mosaic. It’s very intricate work and takes hours to produce some of the large items you might see! Ours took about 10-20 mins to put together and then fired in a small makeshift kiln lined with graphite that then goes into the microwave. It means that they can reach temperatures of up to 900° to melt the glass. I’ve always been fascinated by the glass blowers and craftsman in Murano. 💜💙🩷❤️♥️🩵 @ferrotoso #lovingitaly

Follows, likes, streams, subs etc….don’t really matter to me as long as what I’m doing connects with people. Such a shame we have a culture that concludes you’re only as successful as the number of likes, streams etc you may have. Don’t get me wrong, I am grateful for all of the people who engage with me and who follow my social media to keep up with where I am and what I’m doing. The system has been set up to be done this way. If I could do it a different way I would! I used to as a matter of fact. It felt more personable and real before all this. Then, this little comment popped up yesterday. I know I’m in a very fortunate position (and country for that matter) but life can feel hard, it can feel heavy around which way to go or what to do next. I keep my personal life pretty personal, however a lot of making art and a living recently has felt extremely heavy. I know that this too shall pass and there will be light again. For right now I’m grateful for the one, not the many! And this one certainly did brighten my day. Thank you kind stranger. 💜💜 #theonenotthemany
